In-person advance voting for the March 12 Presidential Preference Primary begins Feb. 19 at several locations around the county. Some locations also have drop boxes where absentee voters may turn in completed ballots. The last day of advance voting is March 8.
On Election Day, March 12, voters MUST go to their assigned polling location, which will be open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

This year, Black History Month's theme is the celebration of the significant contributions African Americans have made in the arts. Cobb County libraries invite you to screen movies spotlighting the contributions of several iconic musicians.

Join the Cobb County Police Department at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, as officials cut the ribbon for the K-9 Unit's brand-new annex, 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta.
The building is being named in honor of District 3 County Commissioner JoAnn K. Birrell for her constant support of the K-9 program.

Join Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady for a community town hall meeting from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Destiny World Church. This event will provide a unique opportunity for insights into the district attorney's office, the Family Advocacy Center, Accountability Courts, and collaborative efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in Cobb County.
Whether you have pressing questions or concerns or simply wish to better understand the workings of the district attorney's office, this town hall promises an informative and interactive session. The Destiny World Church is located at 7400 Factory Shoals Road, Austell.
A Celebration of Life for former County Manager David Hankerson will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Turner Chapel Church at 492 N. Marietta Parkway, Marietta. Hankerson, who shepherded Cobb through decades of changes, died Thursday, Jan. 25, after a long illness. He was 77 years old.
The newly-formed Metro Atlanta Chapter of the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children, Inc. will hold its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Cobb Family Advocacy Center in Marietta. The group will meet monthly on the first Tuesday of each month.
Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady, Victim Witness Unit Director Kim McCoy, and other advocates have supported the formation of this chapter by providing administrative assistance and a place to host meetings.
“Our job in this community does not end when we prosecute people who commit murders, we continue to support the victims and survivors,” Broady said. “It takes a lot of work and support to help them deal with the grief of their loss and navigate the criminal justice system as survivors.”

Drop in for an open house about the Silver Comet Trail extension, 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Smyrna. Project layouts will be available to view, and staff will be on hand to answer questions. The event will take place at the Smyrna Police Training Facility, 1100 Wilson Way, Suite 400.
The PATH Foundation and the Cobb County Department of Transportation are working to connect the Silver Comet Trail to the BeltLine in Atlanta. The rail-to-trail extension from the East-West Connector to Plant Atkinson is the next section to be built.

Vendor registration is open for the 2024 Expo and Marketplace with the deadline set for Friday, March 1. The event will be held Wednesday, April 24, at Cobb County Civic Center and is sure to be a great way for your organization to connect with adults in the area and other businesses.
Tax assistance at locations near you
Low to moderate-income taxpayers can get free assistance with preparing their taxes from AARP Tax Aide certified counselors through April 15. Appointments are required. You do not need to be a senior or a member of AARP.
Got a traffic ticket? Look on the backside. You'll see a QR code now. Cobb has made it easier to track your case with the new QR Code system. The little black-and-white checkered square codes will be on citations. The clerk’s office has also added the tracking system at the State Court building, with a “Follow Your Case” QR code visible when users come in for various criminal and civil hearings, interactive screens, and coming soon on some court notices.
While technology streamlines processes, the State Court Clerk is still available by phone 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, as well as in person at its public service counters at 12 E. Park Square, Marietta.
