A clean sweep for you and the community
Make a difference in your community and help pick up trash at Commissioner Monique Sheffield's annual District 4 cleanup 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20. Keep Cobb Beautiful will give away prizes to volunteers at this Earth Day event.

Camp Puzzle is a fun-for-all day
Kids and adults on the autism spectrum will experience the fun and adventure of being in public safety. The camp is this weekend, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at Cobb's Safety Village in Marietta. The event is a free, one-day camp where there will be fire trucks, police cars, games and more. All activities will be outside. The Cobb County Safety Village is located at 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. Registration is required.
Water Tower Contest winners
Congratulations to Cobb’s finalists in the 2024 Georgia State Model Water Tower Competition. Two teams from Cooper Middle School made it to the state competition, with team Beatles taking first place with their Yellow Submarine tower. The event is designed to teach students about water resource engineering, infrastructure, water treatment and water conservation.
Earth Day water education event
Learn about water treatment and conservation on Earth Day, 1 - 5 p.m., Saturday, April 20 at a family-friendly open house at the Northwest Water Reclamation Facility in Kennesaw. Come tour the facility, enjoy games, activities and snacks while learning how your wastewater is treated and made safe again. The facility is located at 3740 Old 41 Highway Northwest, Kennesaw.
Spruce up your garden this week at the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County annual Plant Sale and Expo, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 19 - 20. Get expert advice about locally grown plants, browse through gently used goods at the yard sale, and shop from over 90 artisans at Jim R. Miller Park's covered arena. Plants, gardening supplies, bird and bee products, yard art, personal and home goods, crafts, pottery, and food will be available.
The expo is in a covered pavilion that is easily accessible by wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers.

Seniors, families and caregivers can get hooked up with the best services and products for aging better in Cobb at this year's Senior Expo and Marketplace, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Cobb Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway SE, Marietta.
Talk to representatives from senior living venues, Medicare, hearing products, skincare products and services, travel opportunities and many more. Get good advice during informative seminars on fraud and caregiving. Attendees can also get a free health screening from Northside Hospital.
Bring your legal questions to the next Pop-up Legal Clinic, 10 a.m. - noon, Saturday, April 27, at Smyrna First United Methodist Church, 1315 Concord Road SE, Smyrna. Ask the volunteer lawyers about issues including landlord/tenant, child support, family law, small claims, probate, bankruptcy and immigration.
The Cobb County Bar Association, Cobb Legal Aid, Smyrna First UMC, Cobb Community Foundation, and Smyrna Councilmembers Latonia P. Hines and Travis Lindley are partnering with the Magistrate Court to make this event possible.
This week, we celebrate the heroes under the headset during National Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week. During its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, the Board of Commissioners presented a proclamation declaring April 14 - 20 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Cobb County. These employees consistently and effectively respond to emergency calls, dispatch services, and provide critical assistance to those in need.
In 2023, Cobb's Department of Emergency Communications answered nearly one million calls and 91 percent of those calls were answered in less than 15 seconds.
Reunite with lost pets using free chips

That's what you'll hear when you get the call after microchipping your pets. Get your dogs, cats, and birds chipped at a free Microchip Clinic, 3 - 7 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Cobb County Animal Services at 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. Opportunity to provide feedback to compliance commission
The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications, Cobb County Police Department, Cobb County Public Safety Police Academy, and Cobb County Sheriff’s Office are all independently accredited through CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies). Anyone wanting to provide comments regarding these agencies’ compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status may provide comments to CALEA through one of the following public comment portals.
These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide our agencies with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.
