Embrace Cobb's unique flavors at International Fest

Join in the celebration of Cobb's uniqueness at the Cobb County International Festival, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Jim R. Miller Park Event Center in Marietta. Savor food from around the globe, see performances and traditional costumes, hear world beats and so much more.
In the kids zone, children will have their own huge play area with kid-friendly axe throwing, soccer and football, compete for medals in a huge obstacle course, craft a mandala and create sand art. Travel around the world in the event center and fill your passport with stamps to earn a prize. Jim R. Miller Park is located at 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta.
Cobb Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid will engage with county residents in a series of "All In" town hall meetings throughout the county from August to October. Residents will learn more about her top priorities, followed by networking with staff from county agencies. All events are free and open to the public. No RSVP is needed.

Performances, prizes, music, food trucks, giveaways, Blooper meet and greet, and many more surprises await you at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre's Sweet 16 anniversary celebration, noon - 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27. The event and parking are free and open to the public.
Those who pre-register can enter to win select prizes throughout the day including a Golden Ticket package that includes tickets to The Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Ballet, select concerts and comedians.
The Cobb County CDBG Program Office will hold a Public Review Meeting 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, to receive comments on the reallocation of unexpended CDBG and HOME Program Funds.
A total of $100,000 in unexpended Community Development Block Grant funds from Fair Housing and Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation projects in Program Years 2021 and 2022 is proposed for reallocation to Zion Keepers Public Facility Renovation. This reallocation is in compliance with HUD CDBG regulations to ensure timely expenditures of grant funds.
A total of $405,232 in unexpended funds from HOME Investment Partnerships Program funded projects in PY 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 is available for reallocation.
Network with county departments and other businesses at Coffee and Conversations with Cobb, 7:30 - 9 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Rio Steakhouse and Bakery, 1275 Powers Ferry Road, Suite 230 Marietta. The event, hosted by Cobb County Economic Development, provides an educational and networking opportunity for business owners, entrepreneurs and startups to connect with county staff, meet neighboring businesses and learn how Cobb County is available to support their growth.

Discover old timey fall fun
What was it like to live in frontier days? Try churning butter and making a corn husk doll and other old-time skills at Fall Frontier Day, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Green Meadows Preserve, 3780 Dallas Highway, Marietta. Check out demonstrations of spinning and weaving, and Cherokee Elder Tony Harris will teach about native plants and their uses in the outdoor classroom.
Sell art at Cobb's holiday markets
Vendor applications are now open for Cobb's 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Market at all four arts centers -- the Sewell Mill Cultural Center, Mable House Arts Center, The Art Place-Mountain View, and The Art Station-Big Shanty.
This year’s markets will run from Nov. 29 - Dec. 9. You may apply at one, two, three, or all four locations. Please note an application fee is required for each location.
Each application fee costs $10 for Cobb residents and $15 for non-residents. Reserve your space soon. Some locations sold out last year. The application deadline is Oct. 4.
Middle School students enrolled in Cobb County and Marietta School Districts are invited to participate in the 14thannual waterSmart waterArt Middle School Calendar Contest. Submit a two-dimensional original art work in any medium depicting “how water is important to me” by Friday, Oct. 13.
The submission must include a 50-word statement explaining how their artwork represents the theme.
Selected art will be posted online, and 12 winning entries will beincluded in the 2024 waterSmart calendar to be distributed throughout the county.
Kids can learn to cook for themselves with Kids in the Kitchen virtual classes this fall. The Cobb County Extension is giving free cooking lessons over Zoom for all youth and their families. Each cooking club session will feature recipes that can easily be made at home. This club will meet once a month from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Zoom starting Sept. 26.
