Talk to representatives from senior living venues, Medicare, hearing products, skincare products and services, travel opportunities and many more. Get good advice during informative seminars on fraud and caregiving. Attendees can also get a free health screening from Northside Hospital.
Throughout June and July, eight Cobb County Public Library locations will become centers for vision care, hosting Vision To Learn mobile clinics. Here, children ages 5-18 can undergo comprehensive eye exams and receive prescription glasses at no cost.
To secure a spot for a Vision To Learn appointment, registration is mandatory, and with limited availability, early booking is encouraged to ensure every child receives the care they deserve.
Bring your legal questions to the next free Pop-up Legal Clinic, 10 a.m. - noon, Saturday, April 27, at Smyrna First United Methodist Church, 1315 Concord Road SE, Smyrna. Ask the volunteer lawyers about issues including landlord/tenant, child support, family law, small claims, probate, bankruptcy and immigration.
The Cobb County Bar Association, Cobb Legal Aid, Smyrna First UMC, Cobb Community Foundation, and Smyrna Councilmembers Latonia P. Hines and Travis Lindley are partnering with the Magistrate Court to make this event possible.
Bring your old, expired and unneeded medications to Cobb's take-back event and prevent medicines from getting into the water and ground. Keep Cobb Beautiful will properly dispose of medication you drop off 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at three locations.
The numbers are in! Commissioner Monique Sheffield's annual District 4 cleanup collected more than 2,180 pounds of waste and recyclable materials on Saturday. In celebration of Earth Day, more than 80 volunteers teamed up with Keep Cobb Beautiful to clean up litter along the roads in South Cobb.
The Cobb County Department of Transportation picked up all the bags filled by the volunteers. The event included T-shirts and prize giveaways for those participating.
Sheriff's Office to brief the public
The Cobb County Sheriff's Office will hold a community briefing Tuesday, April 30, at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta. Sheriff Craig D. Owens will provide updates on public safety measures and community initiatives. Starting at 4:30 p.m., attendees will be able to get up close with the horses and K-9 units, as well as participate in raffles with the chance to win prizes. The program will begin at 6 p.m. A College Campus Connect panel will discuss collaborative efforts between law enforcement and educational institutions. Get your dogs, cats, and birds chipped at a free Microchip Clinic, 3 - 7 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Cobb County Animal Services at 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. There are 100 slots available for Cobb residents. To make an appointment, email Jessica.Darrough@cobbcounty.org.

Cobb County is looking for volunteers to serve at more than 100 voting locations during the General Primary Election May 21. Poll workers set up and close polling stations, greet voters and play a crucial role in verifying voter registrations. To volunteer, you must be 16 and older.

This spring, the Cobb County Water System encourages you to consider a rain garden as an addition to your yard. A rain garden is a natural landscape in a low-lying area that receives rainwater from impervious surfaces (rooftops, driveways, and other hard surfaces). It prevents pollution, reduces stormwater runoff, and serves as shelter for wildlife.
Join Cobb Water at noon Friday, April 26, for an enriching Lunch and Learn: Intro to Rain Gardens. This event will be primarily outdoors at Cobb Water's Wildlife and Rain Garden in Marietta. Virtual participation, which is normally available, will not be the entire program.
Residents are also invited to join a tour or a hands-on work day at the Wildlife and Rain Garden located at 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta.
The Cobb County Community Development Block Grant Program Office will hold a public review meeting 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at 192 Anderson Street, Suite 150, Marietta, to receive comments on the reallocation of unexpended grant funds for the 2021 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program Year.
A total of $11,016 in unexpended JAG funds will be reallocated as follows:

The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications, Police Department, Public Safety Police Academy, and Sheriff’s Office are all independently accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Anyone wanting to provide comments regarding these agencies’ compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status may provide comments to CALEA through one of the following public comment portals.
These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide our agencies with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.
