Nutritious breakfast and lunch meals will be served to children free of charge at two Cobb County public libraries in June and July. The meals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last at:
• South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton
• North Cobb Regional Library, 3535 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw
Meals will be served Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays June 3 - July 26. No meals will be served Friday, July 5.
Breakfast will be served 10 - 10:30 a.m. and lunch 11:30 a.m. - noon. The meals are free for children ages 18 and younger. Adults 19 years and older who are enrolled in school programs for persons with disabilities will also receive meals. Parents and caregivers must remain with the children during the meals.
Celebrate Older Americans Month with free food for Cobb seniors 55 and older, noon - 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at First Christian Church of Mableton, 878 Old Alabama Road SW, Mableton. Cobb County Senior Services and First Christian Church of Mableton have teamed up to provide a free box of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and more to Cobb County residents. The giveaway is first come, first served. Please bring a valid ID.
Learn about the plan to move forward to improve safety and traffic operations in the Holly Springs Corridor at an open house 6 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. You will have an opportunity to review community input received on the 2022 SPLOST project. The Department of Transportation will be on hand to answer questions in the Mountain View Regional Library's community room, 3330 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta.
Water system online services update
The Cobb County Water System has a new online customer account service system. Please be patient as staff and customers learn the new system and staff works through any issues. We expect a high call volume and responses may be delayed. There may be intermittent interruptions of access to bill payments, online services, and account access.
Your first bills in the new system will be slightly delayed. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Your new account number will appear on your first bill. All delinquency processes are currently paused.
Chairwoman Lisa Cupid will highlight Cobb's 2023 accomplishments as she delivers the 2024 Cobb State of the County Address, 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The community is invited to attend the free event where she will provide her vision, purpose, and plans. During the evening, she will recognize community members who have been instrumental in creating opportunities for Cobb residents and businesses in 2023.

Cobb County is looking for volunteers to serve at more than 100 voting locations during the General Primary Election May 21. Poll workers set up and close polling stations, greet voters and play a crucial role in verifying voter registrations. To volunteer, you must be 16 and older.
The Cobb Board of Tax Assessors began mailing residential assessment notices this week. The deadline date to file an appeal is located on the assessment notice and all appeals must be filed by that date. Copies of assessment notices can be found on the Tax Assessor's website at cobbassessor.org.
Those who wish to appeal are strongly encouraged to do so electronically on the Tax Assessor's website. If a taxpayer wishes to mail an appeal, it will be considered timely if it is postmarked by the deadline to appeal date. Appeals will also be accepted in person at the Tax Assessor's office, 736 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta. Funk bands will get you in the groove at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre Saturday, May 11, with old-school groups Con Funk Shun, Atlantic Starr and The Original Lakeside.
The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Parking is free. Attendees can bring their own food, drink and coolers. Food vendors will also be on site. The amphitheatre is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.
Enjoy tunes in the open air at Wine Down Wednesdays all season long at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. On May 15, treat yourself to some fine country tunes starting at 7 p.m. featuring Homegrown - a Zac Brown Band tribute band. There will be monthly free concerts on June 12, July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9.
General Admission is free and VIP tables are available for purchase. You may bring in food or buy it from vendors on site. The Mable House Complex is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.
The 82nd annual Yaarab Shrine Circus and Fair will open its big top May 18 - 27 at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta. The event features 22 circus performances, more than 40 exciting carnival rides and a variety of attractions.
There will be a sneak peek on Friday, May 17, starting at 5 p.m. with discounted ride ticket packages. Circus performances begin on Saturday, May 18, and run through Memorial Day, May 27. Jim R. Miller Park is located at 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. Opening weekend specials are available online.

Support available for grieving parents
Coping with the heartbreaking loss of a child due to violence is a journey that no parent should go through alone. Receive emotional support, educational resources, and advice on how to navigate the criminal justice system 6:30 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Cobb Family Advocacy Center, 277 Fairground Street SE, Marietta.
These supportive meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month and are organized by the Metro Atlanta Chapter-National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children, Inc.
Cobb and Douglas Public Health is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 Community Health Improvement Plan Partnership grants. The grants assist community partners in implementing initiatives that significantly contribute to the 2023-2027 CHIP for Cobb and Douglas Counties.
Developed with Cobb2020 and Live Healthy Douglas, the CHIP identifies strategic issues: Access to health services and basic needs and healthy lifestyles for improving health in Cobb and Douglas Counties. The CHIP Partnership grants offer up to $25,000 per agency through matching funds. Requests less than or equal to $5,000 do not require a match. The deadline to apply is May 23.
