Transit changes in South Cobb up for review

Learn about the proposed microtransit project in the South Cobb area at two county Department of Transportation open houses, Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 21. The findings of its equity analysis will also be available. This proposed Pilot Zone service will replace the FLEX service that operates in the same portion of the county.

  • Monday, May 13, 5 - 7:30 p.m. at the Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta Street, Powder Springs
  • Tuesday, May 21, 5 - 7:30 p.m. at the Sweetwater Valley Library, 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 100, Austell. 

No formal presentation will be given, county staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Learn about the plan to move forward to improve safety and traffic operations in the Holly Springs Corridor at an open house 6 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. You will have an opportunity to review community input received on the 2022 SPLOST project. The Department of Transportation will be on hand to answer questions in the Mountain View Regional Library's community room, 3330 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta.

► Cobb County is looking for temporary workers to serve at more than 100 voting locations during the General Primary Election Tuesday, May 21. The paid workers will set up and close polling stations, greet voters and play a crucial role in verifying voter registrations. To participate, you must be 16 and older.

► Drive for Cobb County Senior Services and help people stay connected and active in our community. You'll be a vital member of the team, taking seniors to and from Cobb senior centers, appointments, grocery stores, and more. Apply now and start your rewarding journey. This part-time position pays $17 per hour.

Final week for advance voting in primary

This is the last week to take advantage of early voting for the General Primary/Nonpartisan Election May 21.

• You may vote from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday - Friday, May 13 - 17, locations listed here.

•  There is NO VOTING on May 18 - 20 

During advance voting, you can cast your ballot at select advanced polling locations. On election day, you must vote at your own precinct.

Take the 'Highway 20 Ride' to Mableton

It's gonna be a "Chicken Fried" night at Wine Down Wednesday at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. On May 15, treat yourself to some country tunes starting at 7 p.m. featuring Homegrown, a Zac Brown Band tribute band.

General admission is free and VIP tables are available for purchase. You may bring in food or buy it from vendors on site. The Mable House Complex is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.

Chairwoman Lisa Cupid

Chairwoman Lisa Cupid's 2024 State of the County Address at the Cobb Galleria will be available to view live online Thursday, May 16. The CobbTV broadcast will begin with the speech, which is scheduled to start at approximately 7 p.m.

Join the excitement this summer at Cobb County Library with its inclusive Summer Reading Challenge for kids and adults. From today, May 13 though July 31, participants can dive into a world of reading and activities, earning a chance to win prizes.

Hear classic hip hop bands with a star-filled lineup of Juvenile, Bun B, Ying Yang Twins, DJ Quik and YoungBloodZ at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre Saturday, May 18. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Parking is free. Attendees can bring their own food, drink and coolers. Food vendors will also be on site. The amphitheatre is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.

A touch of fun for little drivers

Big trucks and little trucks are rolling to the Cobb Civic Center for the county Department of Transportation Touch A Truck event, 1 - 4 p.m. Friday, May 24, at 548 South Marietta Parkway SE, Marietta. Admission is free.

There will be transportation and construction equipment, sanitation vehicles, and vegetation equipment to highlight Public Works Week and the amazing work they do to keep the county running smoothly.

Are you a caregiver in need of relief? Cobb County Senior Services can help! Its Respite Care program provides temporary relief to caregivers caring for loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or other neurological conditions, physical or intellectual disabilities, or who require assistance with at least three activities of daily living.

Cobb Water transitioning to new billing system

Watch for bills from Cobb Water with important information about changes to your account. Cobb Water recently updated its billing system. All customers will be notified of their new account information in the coming weeks. All account numbers have changed and the new account number will appear on your first bill. Email notifications are being sent out in batches to customers with valid email addresses in our system.

► All fees and disconnections are paused through the transition to the new billing system

Please be patient as staff learns the new system and works through any issues. There may be long call wait times and intermittent interruptions of access to bill payments, online services and account access.

Donations that will be repaid with love

You can get your adoption fees waived at Cobb County Animal Services through the end of May. Join in the mission by donating either six cans of unopened and unexpired pet food or bags containing the same weighing more than 10 pounds when you're looking to take a pet into your home. The shelter is located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta.
