Nutritious breakfast and lunch meals will be served to children free of charge at two Cobb County public libraries in June and July. The meals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last at:
• South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton
• North Cobb Regional Library, 3535 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw
Meals will be served Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through July 26. No meals will be served Friday, July 5.
Breakfast will be served 10 - 10:30 a.m. and lunch 11:30 a.m. - noon. The meals are free for children ages 18 and younger. Adults 19 years and older who are enrolled in school programs for persons with disabilities will also receive meals. Parents and caregivers must remain with the children during the meals.
Advance in-person voting for the General and Nonpartisan runoff election will occur at three locations June 10 - 14. These locations will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on those five days.
The May election resulted in two runoffs, one on the Democratic ticket for the US House race in District 14 and the second on the Democratic ballot for the Cobb Commission District 2 contest. The runoff date is Tuesday, June 18.

Only those who voted using the Democratic ballot in the May 21 race, voted nonpartisan, or did not cast a ballot in the May 21 election are eligible to vote in this runoff. Click here for more information.
Pop-up market to help fulfill needs
Goodr and Wellstar are helping to fill the fridge and pantry of those in need. The next Pop-Up Grocery Market in Cobb will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Austell Senior Center, 4915 Austell Powder Springs Road, Austell. There will be fresh food, meat, shelf-stable items, milk, and other beverages.
The next Evening of Jazz at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre will spotlight singer Gregory Porter and feature saxophonist Najee, 7 p.m. Sunday, June 9.

Convention fun lands at Cobb library this month
The Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center welcomes back MiniCon, a free fan convention, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22. Fans of all ages are invited to celebrate everything fantasy, sci-fi, and anime with their community.
Young fans can start their day with an intergalactic-themed story time and craft before walking in the children’s costume parade. Throughout the day, participants of all ages can attend a variety of panel discussions, watch live entertainment, and shop the artist alley that features 30 local artists. Cosplay enthusiasts are invited to enter the cosplay contest in one of three categories: Youth, Teen, or Adult. Guests can wrap up the day singing along in cosplay karaoke.

Don't miss the chance for enjoyable lessons
Bring the kids to Family Fun Safety Days starting Tuesday, June 11, at the Cobb County Safety Village. The event, which runs 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., is the first of three this summer. Youths will be able to wear a firefighter hat, hop in a squad car and see other emergency vehicles up close. There will be puppet shows, a tour of potential fire hazards and how to avoid them at Sparky's house, and a variety of safety games. Admission is $5 per person with a maximum cost of $20 per family. Children aged 2 and younger are free. No registration is required. The event is rain or shine. The next dates are scheduled for June 18 and July 15. The village is located at 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta.
Trail repairs completed ahead of schedule and under budget
The entire stretch of the Bob Callan Trail is open once again! Repairs to the boardwalk in the Cumberland area were completed by Cobb PARKS and the Department of Transportation ahead of schedule and under budget. The Bob Callan Trail is part of the trail network in the Cumberland area and serves as a connection for the community to the Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area.
Senior class registration starts soon
Seniors, get your spots for an exciting summer! Registration for summer quarter classes for Cobb senior centers begins 9 a.m. Monday, June 17.
Choose from a variety of exercise and dance classes designed to keep you moving and healthy, or unleash your creativity with art classes. Explore new interests with general knowledge courses and make new friends in a welcoming and social environment. Classes begin in July, so don't miss out!

Learn how to appeal your assessment
The Cobb County Tax Assessor's Office will continue its extended office hours at Cobb libraries to answer questions about this year's assessments. Residents can learn more about calculating the assessments and how they can appeal by seeing the team at the following library branches. All visits will take place 6 - 8 p.m.

Cobb families have the chance to see Bluey in person through the Adventures with Bluey and Dewey Trivia Contest now through June 30, presented by Cobb County Public Library and sponsored by Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre's ArtsBridge Foundation.
Uncover trivia questions hidden with Dewey's and Bluey's paw prints across all 15 library locations and the Cobb Library Bookmobile. Children can answer trivia, earn stamps from library staff, and enter for a chance to win four free tickets to Bluey’s Big Play show at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on July 13 or 14.
Pick up a "library trivia passport" from any library location, hunt for paw prints, fill the passport with trivia answers, and collect three stamps to submit for a chance to win. Open to children and teens up to age 17, this is an opportunity for family fun and learning.
Exercise prepares officials for cyber attacks
Members of Cobb County Government Information Technology Services, Emergency Management Agency, and 911 Emergency Communications recently attended a regional cybersecurity tabletop exercise to help protect the community from online threats.
It was hosted by the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Urban Area Security Initiative and brought together key stakeholders from the City of Atlanta, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett Counties to simulate and respond to a range of cyber threats occurring in the region. The collaborative event provided the metro Atlanta area governments with a valuable opportunity to hone their skills, share best practices, and strengthen relationships as regional cybersecurity partners.
