On Thursday, Chairwoman Lisa Cupid signed the Service Delivery Strategy agreement that governs how the county and its six cities manage service duplication.
The agreement came after a two-day mediation last month. The parties negotiated a payment by the county for those services provided by the cities to unincorporated residents, such as parks, libraries, and senior services.

Tired of fighting the aging process? Learn how to age on purpose. Aging Mastery is a free, interactive ten-session workshop on Tuesdays, Aug. 27 - Oct. 29, designed to prepare you to grow older and understand what you need to live a fulfilling life. The classes at the Senior Wellness Center in Marietta will help you be proactive in setting up your future self for success! With lessons and tools from this workshop, you will learn to masterfully navigate aging. First class attendance is required to remain in the series. The wellness center is located at 1150 Powder Springs Street, Marietta.
UGA Extension Services in Cobb, Douglas, and Paulding Counties are hosting a Master Naturalist Training program that provides comprehensive training. The registration deadline is this Friday, Aug. 23.
This nine-day program consists of weekly field trips with in-depth lectures from regional experts on a wide variety of environmental and ecological topics. The program dates are every Friday in September and every Thursday in October including an overnight on Oct. 24 - 25. The program days are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Transportation is provided to and from all locations.
The board also set election dates for Cobb Board of Commissioners Districts 2 and 4. Earlier this year, a judge ordered a special election in those two districts as part of a challenge over district maps and qualifications.
Cobb 911 will be having a busy day Saturday, Sept. 7, but not for emergencies. It's the 911 Kids Expo at Cobb 911 headquarters. Come by 10 a.m. - noon and learn safety tips such as when to dial 911, see how dispatchers answer calls and you may even get to talk to first responders on the radio. You may also spot Turbo the 911 tortoise. It all happens at 140 North Marietta Parkway, Marietta.

Cobb Solicitor General Makia Metzger is hosting another public town hall meeting 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at West Cobb Regional Library, 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane, Kennesaw. The town hall meetings will cover a range of initiatives and projects the Office of the Solicitor General is working on.

Help the Cobb Department of Transportation gather information about the Factory Shoals Pedestrian Bridge project. The DOT will hold its first open house 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the South Cobb Community Center. DOT is conducting a focused study of the Factory Shoals Road and Interstate 20 area to gain insight into mobility and pedestrian safety needs for crossing I-20 and within the surrounding study area along Factory Shoals Road. The study aims to develop equitable transportation access and safer conditions for all travelers in the area.
The Factory Shoals Pedestrian Bridge Study is expected to be completed next spring. It includes three key phases:
Existing conditions and needs assessment report
Alternatives analysis
Recommendations with a preferred plan of action for safer pedestrian conditions in the study area
Public and stakeholder input opportunities will be included in each phase of the study.
'Battle of the Paddles' returns to support seniors
Cobb County employees are dinking and volleying in an epic mixed doubles pickleball competition 1 - 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, to raise funds for Meals on Wheels. Come watch the paddles fly at Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road SW, Marietta. You can help too! Your donation can help ensure our Cobb seniors receive the meals they need.
Cobb Animal Services is offering two free vouchers per household per year as part of its Snip the Bill Spay and Neuter Voucher program. Cobb pet owners can pick up the vouchers 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday - Sunday, at 1060 Al Bishop Drive. The vouchers can only be used at West Georgia Spay Neuter Clinic in Douglasville or Community Cat Clinic in Woodstock.

Cobb County Senior Services will hold a free Senior Day at the North Georgia State Fair on Friday, Sept. 20. Enjoy a morning of exclusive activities and entertainment just for adults 55 and older.
Start your day with a complimentary breakfast (while supplies last), then explore the fairgrounds. Enjoy pig races, be amazed by the Sea Lion Splash, and cheer on our furry friends at the Ready, Go, Dog Show. There's also a petting zoo, exhibits, and the chance to take a ride in the Skylift.
