The West Cobb Regional Library will host a Fraud Awareness and Prevention session in partnership with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, 5 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane, Kennesaw. The Cobb Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division will provide insights into understanding fraud, learning effective prevention strategies, and recognizing red flags.

Grant applications sought for emergency program
The Cobb County Community Development Block Grant Program Office is accepting funding applications for Phase 42 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program until Friday, Jan. 17.
The Emergency Food and Shelter Program is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and eligible activities include: emergency rent/mortgage/utility assistance, mass shelter, supplies/equipment, served meals, support services, and rehabilitation/repairs.
Nonprofits applying for EFSP funding are required to have at least two years of experience directly related to the proposed activity. Prospective applicants should attend the Application Workshop to learn more about the program and minimum requirements.

Cobb County has partnered with FindHelp to create a new online resource that connects residents with local, vetted assistance programs. On the site, you can search for free or reduced-cost services like medical care, food, job training, and more. Residents can access this new portal by visiting findhelp.cobbcounty.gov. The initiative is funded through an allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act.
