Signs will be posted with directions for customers to go to alternative locations to make payments for tags, property tax and complete homestead exemption forms. Customers also have the option to leave completed homestead exemption applications in the drop-box located outside of our office door.
Tax exemption deadline arrives
The deadline to file for a homestead exemption arrives Tuesday, April 1. A homestead exemption automatically renews each year, so you only need to reapply if you're a new homeowner or if you now qualify for a higher exemption, such as turning 62 or 65 years old.
The basic homestead exemption provides savings in the county general and in the school general categories. Other types of exemptions that could save you money:
• School Tax - Age 62 and up
• Disability
• Senior age 65
• Veterans
• Surviving spouse
Cobb Library's Multicultural Services Group will welcome spring 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Sewell Mill Library in Marietta. The Colors of Spring Cultural Festival will have family-friendly crafts, activities, and snacks from around the world, while supplies last. Locate your CobbLinc ride with new app
CobbLinc will provide its riders with real-time information through the newly launched myStop app. This will allow passengers to monitor the exact location of all CobbLinc buses and take the guesswork out of arrival times.
Users can access scheduled and real-time departures for every bus on all routes. Each bus stop in the CobbLinc system has been assigned a unique identification number, enabling riders to easily obtain departure information by entering their stop number, found on the bus stop sign. Riders can access the myStop app in several convenient ways:

Cobb County Public Library is introducing text message notifications for hold pickups, overdue notices, and other library messages. To provide more accurate and timely information, the library is discontinuing its automated phone notification service. Library patrons can now choose to receive notifications via text message or email.
Cobb library cardholders with accounts that were set up for phone notification should immediately ask for a change to text message or email notification in order to ensure seamless service.
Make a difference in the community by volunteering to help in emergencies. Sign up with Cobb County’s Community Emergency Response Team to gain critical skills in disaster preparedness, fire safety, search and rescue, and medical operations.
This training will prepare residents to assist neighbors or coworkers in need when professional responders aren’t immediately available to help. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, live in Cobb and pass a background check.

Annual report offers window to county's progress
The 2024 Cobb County Annual Report is available for your reading pleasure. It gives insight into the progress made for the public by county government, its agencies and projects. There are comparisons of budget and millage rates with other metro counties, a breakdown of tax uses, and explanations of new programs that will benefit residents.
You'll be crying happy tears when you hear that the Vidalia onion fundraiser is back. The Cobb County UGA Extension is now accepting pre-orders. Order your 10-pound bags of medium-sized onions for $12 by 5 p.m. April 9.
You may also choose to donate a bag to the St. Vincent De Paul Society Food Pantry.

Low-cost companionship remains available
Get a deal while you can. All pets at Cobb County Animal Services remain $50 for adoptions through the end of the month. The shelter is located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. It is closed on Mondays and holidays. Go to the web site here to view the pets available.
Bring your cats and dogs (only) to Animal Services' FREE Microchip Clinic 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at South Cobb Recreation Center, 875 Riverside Parkway, Austell. Cobb residents only. No registration is required.

Findhelp.cobbcounty.gov is the county's new resource making it easier to find local, vetted assistance programs. Cobb residents can get assistance and a leg up with many of the county's nonprofit partners.
On the site, you can search for free or reduced-cost services like medical care, food, job training, and more. Access this new portal at findhelp.cobbcounty.gov. The initiative is funded through an allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act.
