Breakfast and lunch meals will be served to children free of charge weekdays June 2 - July 25 in three Cobb County public libraries. Meals will be offered three days per week on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last at:
South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton
North Cobb Regional Library, 3535 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw
No meals will be served on Friday, July 4. Prepared by a local county-inspected commercial kitchen, the meals are free for children ages 18 and younger. Adults 19 years and older who are enrolled in school programs for persons with disabilities will also receive meals.
Parents and caregivers must remain with the children during the meals.
Voting starts for June special election

Effective June 17, several Cobb County polling places have changed for the primary. Affected voters will be mailed new precinct cards. Voters are strongly encouraged to verify their polling place prior to each election, as locations may change.

Cobb County Government is transitioning its official website from cobbcounty.org to cobbcounty.gov to improve security, credibility, and accessibility for residents. The transition will officially take place on June 2.
“By adopting a .GOV domain, we are taking an important step to strengthen cybersecurity and enhance public confidence in our online services,” said Dr. Jackie McMorris, county manager. “Residents can trust that when they visit our website, they are accessing official government information and services.”
The new official website will be cobbcounty.gov. The old website will remain accessible for a limited time, but residents should update their bookmarks.
Emails to @cobbcounty.org addresses will continue to work for a limited time but contact information should be transitioned to @cobbcounty.gov as soon as possible.
The upcoming Family Fun Safety Days will make learning a joy. Kids can climb up into a fire truck, explore emergency vehicles, legally hop inside a squad car, ring the firetruck bell, watch a puppet show and learn about how to stay safe in the home. All events are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Cobb County Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta on these dates:

Celebrate the start of the reading season
Cobb County Public Library invites the community to its annual Summer Reading Kickoff Party, a free celebration of books, community, and fun, 4 - 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Switzer Library in Marietta.
This year’s event features the theme “Color Our World,” encouraging readers of all ages to explore the world of stories, cultures, and ideas that make our lives richer. Families can anticipate craft stations for all ages, music from an in-house DJ, interactive activities, opportunities to win exciting prizes, and photo opportunities with beloved mascots Rita Book and Dewey.

Join the fight against opioid abuse
Cobb County is now accepting applications for opioid abatement funds to support programs focused on prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction. Nonprofits, healthcare providers, government agencies, and community partners in Cobb may apply.
Join the Cobb 101 Class of 2025 for a unique, in-depth look at the functions and departments of Cobb County Government. Cobb 101 is an 11-week course during evenings this fall. The class will visit facilities, talk to leaders, and learn how tax dollars are spent to serve those who call Cobb home.
Public feedback needed for public safety accreditation
The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications, Police Department, Public Safety Police Academy, and Sheriff's Office are all independently accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Anyone wanting to provide comments regarding these agencies' compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status may provide comments to CALEA through one of the following public comment portals.
These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide our agencies with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.
The Cobb PARKS Spring/Summer activity guide is back in action! Programs and events will be available throughout the spring and summer. Get ready for the chance to participate in various adult athletic leagues. This July, the department invites you to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month.
Pay close attention when driving around the Kennesaw Mountain area. Parts of Stilesboro Road are closed to replace and upgrade an underground water piping system. You can still access Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield and the visitor center parking area from Old 41 Highway and Stilesboro Road.

Silver Comet section temporarily closed
A small section of the Silver Comet Trail will be closed for slope stabilization work through Aug. 4. The area to be closed is the section that runs under Camp Highland Road.
