Last chance to cast your ballot in Mableton runoff Tuesday
Runoff Election Day for the inaugural Mableton Municipal Election is Tuesday, April 18. The election will include all 15 precincts located within the new city and will decide these races: mayor, city council District 2, city council District 3, city council District 4, and city council District 5. Drop boxes are inside these voting locations and open only during voting hours.
There is NO VOTING on April 17.
Absentee ballots may be hand-delivered to the Main Elections Office during office hours until 7 p.m., April 18. On election day, April 18, voters must cast their ballots at their polling place.
Last week, the New York-based agency Fitch Ratings once again confirmed its AAA rating for the Cobb Water System’s bonds. These high ratings help save Cobb taxpayers money by allowing entities to obtain lower interest rates for various projects.

Commissioner Monique Sheffield and Chief Magistrate Judge Brendan Murphy are hosting a Career Fair and Pop-up Legal Clinic on Saturday, April 22, at the Cobb County Civic Center located at 548 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta. Free legal advice will be provided at the legal clinic from 10 a.m. - noon, with pre-registration beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Cobb County Human Resources Department, Cobb WorkSource, Chattahoochee Technical College, and Wellstar will conduct job interviews on-site from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free information and health checks will be available from Wellstar representatives.
Learn, explore, and shop at the Annual Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County Plant Sale and Expo 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 21 - 22 at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta.
You'll find plants, gardening supplies, artisan goods, bird and bee products, yard art, crafts, pottery, and food from more than 75 vendors. The park is located at 2245 Callaway Rd SW, Marietta.
Children and adults on the autism spectrum are invited to Camp Puzzle, Cobb's annual fun, half-day experience. The free event will be held 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at The Cobb Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. Campers will have the chance to sit in a police car, ride in a fire truck, go up in a ladder truck, play in a bouncy house, ride an inflatable slide, play games, do crafts, as well as meet with firefighters, police officers, sheriff deputies and 911 operators.

Registration still open for Cobb's citizens academy
The application portal for our Cobb 101 Citizens Government Academy Class of 2023 is still open! This ten-week course provides an in-depth look at the many functions of county government. It will be held throughout Cobb, allowing participants to experience what the county government does for our residents.
Applications will close soon. The class will be limited to 30 participants. You must be 18 years of age or older and either a Cobb resident or business owner.
Find your calling with Cobb County Public Safety 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, during a career fair at Cobb County Police Headquarters in Marietta. Cobb is hiring multiple positions, including E-911 Operators, GCIC technicians, police officers and more, with up to $8,000 in sign-on incentives.
This is an open event. Recruiters will be present to assist and answer any questions. This career fair is a partnership with the Cobb County chapter of NAACP and the Cobb County SCLC. The headquarters is located at 545 South Fairground Street.
Chairwoman Lisa Cupid will present her community State of the County address 7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre in Marietta. There will be a reception prior to the event at the adjacent Cobb County Civic Center.
Each year Cupid awards those who embody the spirit of being “All In.” Honorees are selected from five categories: Integrity, Inclusion, Intelligence, Innovation, and Investing in Cobb's residents, infrastructure and future. You may self-nominate or submit the name of someone you’d think should be considered.
Nominations close at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, April 20.
